Art Journal Journey - Landscapes Of The Soul

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to make a final page for Elke's Landscapes Of The Soul Challenge at Art Journal Journey, and I really like to use simple collage and mark making. I also did some stencilling with paint, then found the word 'Soul' in my English Synonyms book, cut it out and added it to my page. Hope you like it.

I also made my November art journal calendar, but I'll save that until tomorrow.

Happy Tuesday! I don't do Halloween! :-)

Grad Day Jewellery

Morning Everyone!

The day is nearly here! After four years of hard work and partying, my daughter Beth's Grad Day is tomorrow. It's going to be rather posh, the ceremony is in The Royal Albert Hall no less. I have my outfit ready (dress and jacket - I'm calling it my Teresa May outfit!), and yesterday I put together some jewellery using the beads that I bought at the Knit & Stitch Show last week.

My dress has a red, orange and black design, hence the bead colours. I made two earring designs, and I think I'll wear the shorter orange and red ones, as they show up better against my fiery red, newly dyed hair.

The large beads are agate, the black are onyx, and the rest are glass.

I'm off to make some more preparations now. Have a lovely day!

Inspired by Karin

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I was inspired by Karin's techniques over at Birgit's Crew Member Wednesday Challenge, and created a double page spread in my 7x5" art journal.

I used Carabelle Studio stamps and stencils, and DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics.

Also, I thought I'd share my purchases from the Knit and Stitch Show last Thursday. I had a wonderful afternoon and evening with my hooking friends Jan, Gabby, Sandra and Linda, topped off with beer and curry at Victoria station's Wetherspoons.

A closer look at the agate and glass beads I bought. I'm intending to make myself some jewellery to wear at my daughter Beth's graduation this week.

Wishing you all a wonderful week,

Wanderlust week 21 - Work Big

Hello Everyone!

For week 21 of Wanderlust, Kasia invited us to work big. She suggested that we use inspiration from one of our own art journal pages, and create something big. My canvas isn't huge, about 14x12", but I took inspiration from this page in my 7x5" art journal.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend,

A Little Piece Of My Soul

Morning Everyone!

The sun is shining, and I'm looking forward to a day out at The Knit & Stitch Show at the Alexandra Palace in London this afternoon with some of my hooking pals. I was up bright and early, and created a quick page in my 7x5" art journal too.

I scraped a bit of white gesso on my page, collaged some torn pieces of painty scrape paper, then added some marks and writing. It was a great start to my day!

Hope you all have a fabulous day, whatever you do!

Our Beautiful Souls

Hello Everyone!

Here's a little page I made yesterday in my 7x5" art journal. The red and blue areas are pieces of painty kitchen towel, and I used the dropper of my black Bombay Ink to sketch the flower. I made a butterfly using eyes cut from a magazine.

I found this quote online... 'If only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies. How different our ideal of beauty would be.'

Soul Food

A Jackson Pollock moment is good for the soul! Linking this page to Art Journal Journey's 'Landscapes of the Soul' challenge.

I'll be leaving this one to dry naturally overnight! Maybe longer!

Have a happy day,

Low Ebb

Hello Everyone.

There's a new challenge for October over at Art Journal Journey, Elke has set the theme of 'Landscapes Of The Soul'.

I'm not sure if it's the change in the season, or the havoc the menopause is causing in my body, but this poem by Leila Thomson perfectly sums up the way I'm feeling.

"Low Ebb"

no reason
no light
no energy left to fight
not even the sparkles on the sea
can lift the spirit deep in me
one twist in the mind
has shut them out and made me blind

a shaft of light enters in
to touch the stone cold heart
waters churn
tides turn
birds take flight into the light
life blood flows in

There is hope after all! Tomorrow is another day. If you're feeling the same way, take heart, and have a good week.

Art Journal Calendar - October 2017

Hello Everyone, and a happy October to you all!

I have a new calendar spread to share, but first I will show my September pages all filled in.  Lots of walking, arting and crochet!

And, here is my Kate Crane inspired October spread. It took me all day to make this, and it was hard to stop adding, but I'm happy and looking forward to writing in some of the boxes.

Happy Sunday, and have a wonderful week,
